RUSTON, La. (AP) Raheem Appleby scored 15 points and Cordarius Johnson added 12 as Louisiana Tech defeated Texas-Arlington 64-51 Saturday night to win its 11th straight game and remain undefeated in Western Athletic Conference play.
The Bulldogs (19-3, 10-0) swept the season series after also beating the Mavericks 55-52 on Jan. 5.
Louisiana Tech overcame a seven-point deficit in the teams' first meeting, but this time never trailed. The Bulldogs led 23-9 before Texas-Arlington closed to 33-28 at the half.
After Louisiana Tech scored the first four points after the break, the Mavericks again closed to within five, but could get no closer.
Texas-Arlington, which came in ranked No. 8 nationally in field-goal percentage defense (37.2) held Louisiana Tech to 36.7 percent (18 of 49), but could not capitalize, shooting only 36 percent (18 of 50).
Brandon Edwards scored 17 to lead the Mavericks (10-9, 5-5), who saw their two-game winning streak end.
