Charleston Southern football coach Mills resigns

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) Charleston Southern coach Jay Mills has resigned after 10 seasons leading the Buccaneers' football program.

The 51-year-old Mills announced the move Thursday, saying it was the right time to step aside for the program. Mills was 48-63 at Charleston Southern and leaves with the most wins in school history.

The Buccaneers finished at 5-6 this season, winning five of their last eight games after ending a 15-game losing streak that was the longest in the Football Championship Subdivision.
